DeMarcus Ware: Redskins forced me to get animated, it 'comes out when people bring it out'

One way to stop DeMarcus Ware from penetrating off of the edge is to simply tackle him. Redskins left tackle Trent Williams did that with about four minutes to play Monday night. Of course, that is illegal.

Well, not if the referees don't call it, which they didn't in this case.

Ware easily pushed Williams to the side and was within a step of sacking Rex Grossman when the 6-5, 318-pounder dove to the ground and wrapped up Ware's left foot. The third-and-17 play resulted in an incomplete pass from Grossman, but the normally calm Ware was animated after the play, yelling for a flag that he would not receive.

"Sometimes the animation comes out when people bring it out, and you got to show them that you're not going to get ran over or do the things that you want to do to me," Ware said.

So, how do you block Ware?

"If you had a guy with some hands that could snatch me down and pull me down," he said. "That's what they did."

The Redskins were facing third-and-long because Ware recorded his league-leading fifth sack on the prior play. He didn't cause Grossman many problems in the first half, but his pressure in the last quarter and a half helped prevent the Redskins from scoring a single point in the final 19 minutes of play.

Ware said that he persevered, believing his opportunity was just one play away.

"You have to have that confidence that sooner or later things are going to break down," Ware said. "Sooner or later you're going to get there; sooner or later you're going to make plays. The guys that don't believe in that are the guys that don't play for a long time."

I saw Williams alone, do that TWICE on Ware, and I think he also had a trip on Ware. And before that, early in the game, Hightower and another Olineman, tackles Ware---pulled him to the ground.

Gruden himself was kind of getting a little animated over it, because he asked how can TWO REFS be standing there and watching Ware getting tackled by Williams, and not do a thing about it. Ware even dragged Williams a few feet before he was pulled down.

I still can't get over the ref looking RIGHT AT IT (the obvious, clear as day, Ware trip) and doing nothing.
