Also, thats highly unlikely. Just him being present would've changed the entire sequence of events that wouldn't prevented the aunt and uncle from being in the exact spot where they were when the drunken driver hit them.

So basically this kid is a nerd who's responsible for the death of two people. All because he wanted to study.
