Former Dallas Cowboys defensive back Deion Sanders answered questions about Dez Bryant's costly dinner bill In an interview this week on KESN-FM 103.3. Some excerpts:
On Dez Bryant & his $54,000 dinner bill:
That's standard, but ignorance comes into play here. I mean you're not going to stick me with a check for 55 grand, I mean there's no way in the world.
On what he would have said if he were stuck with the bill:
Said? I wouldn't have stayed to say anything. I would have been calling them from my car going down the toll way, "You're not going to get me for this one.
On the kind of life lesson it teaches Dez to spend 55 grand on a dinner as a young man:
The lesson is really 'don't disrespect us in camp like you did, because we're going to get you one way or another. If you hadn't disrespected us the way that you did, it would have never had to come to this.' So he just learned a valuable monetary lesson, I think that was the case. Mike Irvin and I always used to go to eat all the time, and we would take turns getting the bill. He knew it was his turn one time when we were at a simple smorgasbord-type restaurant. It was his turn, and he knew it was his turn, and he said he was going to the bathroom and then the waiter came up and told me to look outside of the window. He (Irvin) had faked like he was going to go to the bathroom, got in his car, and he was at the light gloating at me. It was funny. That's how he skipped out on his tab.
