Former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Deion Sanders was interviewed on KESN-FM on Wednesday to discuss possible changes to the Cowboys’ defense. Here are some highlights:

One of the top cornerbacks in the league was going to become a free agent: Nnamdi Asomugha. Should the Cowboys go and get him and will he be worth it?

Yep. Yesterday. They should have went and got him yesterday. I don’t know about the price tag. He has the ability to cover the best in the game; he is like that. He really is. He’s worth going to get. I will validate that, for certain.

Should the Cowboys cut offensive linemen, such as Marc Colombo and Leonard Davis, in order to pursue Asomugha?

You’re not doing that. I mean offense for offense, like eye for eye; Offense for offensive guys, defense for defensive guys. I mean, you’re going to get rid of some defensive guys to get Nnamdi, I understand. You need your offensive linemen. This team needs defense. This team’s offense is adequate. I mean, offense is adequate. The offense, they were okay, all season long. Defense is what let you down.

What is your assessment of Jay Ratliff? Is he just playing out of position?

I like him. I think he’s good. He’s more than adequate. Sometimes, guys are just ballers. I think Ratliff is going to ball wherever you play him. He’s just that kind of guy.
