DeAngelo Hall and Jim Haslett butt heads in WashingtonPosted by Gregg Rosenthal on October 21, 2010 12:47 PM ET
Earlier this season, Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall complained about his team's coverage schemes, saying he was going to talk with defensive coordinator Jim Haslett so Hall could cover the best opposing receiver.
They spoke, and seemed to iron out their differences. For a few weeks.
Jason Reid of the Washington Post reports that Hall and Haslett had a "contentious exchange" Tuesday about pass coverage responsibilities. The argument caused Shanahan to meet with Hall privately, and then single out Hall at a team meeting, according to Reid's three sources. Shanahan reportedly stressed the need for better communication to the team.
Hall reportedly feels that he's receiving "mixed signals" over how to handle certain pass coverages. Hall admitted after Sunday night's loss he blew a coverage during the game that led to a long score. Haslett and Hall reportedly get along overall, and it's not believed to be a major issue moving forward.
The Redskins are a more competitive team overall this year, but the defense has taken a step back switching to Haslett's 3-4 scheme after some excellent seasons under Jim Zorn. Washington is last in the league in yards allowed.
