For a feature on Sunday's NFL Today on CBS, Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino had a sit-down interview with Tony Romo, which was conducted today.
"Dan's great," Romo said. "I've played golf with Dan. I just like hearing the stories. If I could hang around with some NFL quarterback greats all day and just talk football, I'd love it."
Marino threw for 61,361 yards and 420 touchdowns, which were NFL records when he retired after a 17-year career. What separated him from other quarterbacks was his quick release.
"He was able to put the ball in spots that others couldn't just because of the timing he had when he'd let it go," Romo said.
Romo has perhaps the quickest release among NFL quarterbacks today, while not similar to how Marino did it, fast just the same.
"That's a great compliment if anyone says that," Romo said. "Anything you can do to be compared to Dan Marino is a positive, no question."
