Dan Campbell to coach Miami's TEs

January, 23, 2011
By Todd Archer

IRVING, Texas -- If the Cowboys are to have an assistant offensive line coach in 2011, it won’t be Dan Campbell.

Campbell will remain in Miami as the Dolphins’ new tight ends coach. The position became available when George DeLeone left to join good friend and former Cowboys defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni at the University of Connecticut.

Campbell interviewed with head coach Jason Garrett and had a second interview with offensive line coach Hudson Houck last Tuesday. Hall of Famer Bruce Matthews, who was a Houston assistant the last two seasons, has also interviewed for the position and played for Houck at Southern Cal.

Campbell played for the Cowboys from 2003-05 and was a teammate of Garrett’s with the New York Giants. He was the Dolphins’ assistant offensive line coach last season, his first year as a coach, and interviewed for the tight ends position with Tony Sparano on Thursday.
