Craig Miller: Redskins' pass rush is Cowboys' biggest concern Sunday

03:55 AM CDT on Saturday, September 11, 2010

SportsDayDFW.com

The Ticket's Craig Miller, co-host of The Dunham and Miller show weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on KTCK-AM 1310, answered questions in a live chat Friday. Some excerpts:

On Miles Austin's six-year, $54 million deal:

I'm fine with it. I don't see Miles as a Roy Williams , who also got a fat deal after one Pro Bowl season. Austin is fast, physical, has great hands, runs great routes, and has great chemistry with Romo. Williams has none of that. And, Austin has his head screwed on straight. He had to work from the bottom up, and he's made it to the top and I don't think he'll give up that spot. This was money well spent.

On if Wade Phillips is fired if he misses the postseason:

Craig Miller: Yes. Unless Romo misses the entire year or something like that. Jerry loves Wade and will keep him around if they do what they did last year -- just win one playoff game. But, if they don't advance, or don't even make the playoffs, I think Wade will be gone. There is too much build-up for this season. Jerry expects them to make a deep playoff run, so Wade needs to deliver close to that.

On concerns about the offensive line and the Cowboys' record prediction:

I think the O-line is the biggest concern. I've got the Cowboys going 10-6. I think they could actually be better than last year, but they've got such a tough schedule that I think 10 wins is the best they can do. However, the stats regarding O-lines with a lot of guys over 30 years old are not good. They tend to break down at an alarming rate. Keep your fingers crossed, because if that happens, they are doomed. It won't matter that they've got great skill players if they can't block.

On the aspect of the Redskins that should scare the Cowboys the most:

I would think the Redskins pass rush would be the Cowboys biggest concern on Sunday. They've got some guys who can attack the passer, and we all know the condition of the Dallas O-line. Outside of that, I don't think a lot about the Skins scares Dallas.

On what to expect out of Martellus Bennett this season:

He was my pick to click last season and that didn't happen. He caught a playing-time break when Phillips got hurt, so if he can't make the most of it this year, his window may close. He's got incredible ability, but we are all wondering about what he's got between the ears. This is put-up or shut-up time for him. I think he'll end up proving that he's worth something this season.

I agree with this. But I say 11 wins.

the scschedule does look tough but who knows what happens during the season to make some of the games more winnable cause we dont know to really how good the eagles r and we dont play then untill december and that can setup for a pretty hard december having it all be divisonal games depending on how good the eagles and redskins look

I have us 9-7 and missing the playoffs.

With Green Bay winning the Super Bowl.

Then you'll see Wade Phillips being fired then, I'll guarantee it.

We very well could go 9-7 with that schedule.
