With the final weekend of games likely to shuffle the order, the Dallas Cowboys currently hold the seventh overall pick in next spring's draft.

Carolina has clinched the first choice, and the next three spots go to 4-11 teams: Buffalo, Cincinnati and Denver. The order among teams with the same record is determined by a reversal of strength of schedule.

The team that had the softer schedule in terms of opponents' winning perceantage gets the higher pick. In theory, that team needs help more than the others, and the purpose of the draft is to help the lame clubs.

The strength-of-schedule tiebreaker likely will come into play among the group of six teams at 5-10, including the Cowboys.

In that group, Arizona has had the lowest strength of schedule at .458, followed by San Francisco (.592), the Cowboys (.521), Houston (.525), Detroit (.550) and Cleveland (.575).

The Cowboys' final strength-of-schedule score will range from a high of .527 to a low of .512.

That would easily land us Fairley or Kerrigan.

Well, Fairley could be gone by then, but not Kerrigan.
