The Cowboys only have one restricted free agent, but they don’t intend to restrict him.
According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, the Cowboys won’t tender running back Phillip Tanner an offer, making him an unrestricted free agent.
It’s an economic move, as a tender would have cost $1.389 million, and the reserve can likely be signed for far less than that.
The former undrafted rookie had 56 carries for 149 yards last year, spending most of his time on special teams.
