Source: Cowboys trying out Eric Ghiaciuc, Quintin Demps

The National Football Post

The Dallas Cowboys are trying out several players today, including veteran offensive lineman Eric Ghiaciuc.

According to a league source with knowledge of the situation, the Cowboys are trying out Ghiaciuc, a former Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, San Diego Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns lineman.

Ghiaciuc, 29, has started 42 career NFL games. He was cut by New England on Sept. 3.

The Cowboys are also looking at former Philadelphia Eagles fourth-round defensive back Quintin Demps as well as defensive backs Geoffrey Pope, Devon Hall and Roy Weaver, former Arizona Cardinals running back Alphonso Smith, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive tackle Xavier Fulton, who recently tried out for the Baltimore Ravens and former Oakland Raiders defensive end Alex Daniels.

Alphonso Smith and Demps are the only recognizable names to me.

Interesting we're looking at running backs.

Also . . . why do this this week, and not last week?

Good question.

The only thing I can think of is due to it being an off-week (sorta) maybe someone or someones weren't going to be there in order to evaluate these folks.

No sense in working guys out without those top talent eyes of Jerry Jones around.

Well, the roster churning is good.

Heavy at safety. Ball and Hamlin aren't playing as well as hoped.
