WR Laurent Robinson to work out for Cowboys
September, 5, 2011
Sep 55:22PM CT
By Tim MacMahon

Wide receiver Laurent Robinson will work out for the Cowboys at Valley Ranch, a source said.

Robinson was released by the San Diego Chargers despite catching six passes for 120 yards in the preseason finale. He has 89 catches for 1,000 yards and four touchdowns in four NFL seasons, including 34 catches for 344 yards and two touchdowns for the St. Louis Rams in 2010.

The Cowboys could address their lack of depth at receiver by signing the 6-foot-2, 197-pound Robinson. Reserve receivers Kevin Ogletree, Jesse Holley and sixth-round rookie Dwayne Harris have combined career totals of only 10 catches for 130 yards, all by Ogletree.

If he's 100%, he could be an interesting add. Has some upside and good deep speed.

If my name was Jeremy Parnell, Martin Rucker or tashard choice I would be worried I am not long for the roster if they feel they need help at wr..

Contrary to most I dont think they will cut a wr to add him.....if they decide to sign him.

I think Rucker or Choice should be very worried. I dont think they'd cut Parnell, because right now he's the only backup T on the roster.

I have this strange feeling we are going to see kosier or/and dockery turn into the swing tackles. I don't think they will want to waste a game day roster spot on Parnell like we did with Barron last year.

I wont be surprised if another veteran OL is added, someone who can be the swing T on game days.

This would be a good signing for us.. I'm hoping it works out well and we get him.

I like Robinson, hopefully he can pick up our offense, and see some playing time if we do sign him.

I don't want to get excited over a highlight reel, but I really liked what I just saw. Good size, speed, and catches the ball well in traffic.

Obviously there are holes in his game, or he wouldn't be available. But I think he'd be an upgrade over our current 3rd receiver - and I'm an Ogletree fan.

I dont think he is in the discussion to take ogletrees job personally. This team is just looking for more good players who fit what they want. This guy has been injured repeatedly and that is his knock.

I really cant believe how much this reminds me of 05. THis is almost like the peerless price signing come to think of it...he was old and banged up, robinson is young and banged up.

I remember when we signed price and cowboys zone and other forums all around went crazy and declared him the number 3 over crayton...never happened. He was awkwardly forced on the roster never did anything and soon thereafter released......

Thanks for pissing in my rice crispies.

Oh, and Peerless did have one long touchdown against the Eagles I think. So there.

:awkward

Yeah, I remember the Price hoopla. He was a University of Tennessee alum, so I liked the move. Add to it he had something like 90 receptions oppossite Eric Moulds in Buffalo one year.

But no, he never did anything for us.

I don't know anything about this Robinson kid, but I'm a Garrett-groupie right now, so if he signs him, I'm gonna be all :towel

The red flag for me is that the rams have been WR starved for a long time and he was still not good enough to be retained.

They look like they have a really good group at wr right now.....they dont have a Larry Fitzgerald type at the top but they look pretty solid..that is going to be a hard team to defend.
