When Wade Phillips went to up Tashard Choice last week and told him to be ready, the running back thought that meant he was going to have a significant role against Green Bay.
It didn't happen. Felix Jones and Marion Barber once again got the majority of the carries even though the ground game was ineffective. Choice did have three carries for nine yards _ his first carries since Week Three _ but they came in the final 4:30 when the Cowboys were already down 45-7.
Is he disappointed his role didn't change?
"I don't know, man,'' Choice said. "It's just tough. It's always tough when you get an opportunity to go in the game and it's late in the fourth quarter, but all you can do is just go in there and try to play, man. It's hard not to be able to get in the football game and contribute early, but it is how it is.''
Asked about his role this week, Choice said, "probably the same. I have no idea.''
But he was encouraged by the declaration of interim head coach Jason Garrett that the best players would be the ones to take the field in these final eight games.
"I'm praying,'' Choice said. "I'm not saying I'm the best player, I just hope I can play a little bit. That's all.''
