Since the Cowboys are history, here's a look at some similarities in their history:

The last time the Cowboys started a season this poorly, their quarterback was helped off the field during in the second quarter of a loss to the New York Giants and faced a four-to-six week recovery because of a fractured bone.

Rookie Troy Aikman suffered a fractured left index finger in a 30-13 loss to the Giants in the fourth game of the 1989 season. That was the last time the Cowboys had five losses in the first six games (actually, they were 0-6). Dallas finished 1-15 in Jimmy Johnson's first year as coach.

Steve Walsh had 13 completions for 190 yards filling in for Aikman. Jon Kitna had 16 completions for 187 yards after taking over for Tony Romo on Monday.

The 1989 Cowboys had three interceptions and one fumble recovery in that loss to the Giants. The Cowboys had three interceptions and two fumble recoveries on Monday.

In 1963, the Cowboys dropped to 1-5 with a 37-21 loss to the Giants on Oct. 21. Dallas played two quarterbacks in that game, too _ Don Meredith and Eddie LeBaron _ although not because of injury.

In that game, the Cowboys led 21-14 in the second quarter, similar to Monday (20-14). The Giants kicked a 39-yard field goal on the final play of the second quarter to cut the deficit to 21-17. On Monday New York's Lawrence Tynes kicked a 53-yard field goal at the end of the first half for a four-point Giants lead.

I'll say this, we will definitely bring in another proven coach for next year.

Jerry won't scrap this whole thing, and with that he'll go back to bringing in a coach who knows what the f' he is doing.

So look for Cowher or Gruden as your next head coach.

Cowher won't be here, hes gonna go somewhere like Carolina were he can run everything...

Gruden has coached for Al davis so he seems like a logical fit.

I wish we were more consitent so we could go get Harbaugh from Stanford but it seems like it would be a little tough for him with all this bullsh*t to deal with it early on...

I wouldn't count out Cowher here, we have the more talented team and there's not much work to correct.

Carolina has a lot of issues. And I think Cowher can work with Jerry. If Parcells could then Cowher can.

Dont really see the comparison, other than the record. Those team they cited had almost no talent at all, especially the 89 team.

This team has alot of top notch players. Its just poorly coached.

Yeah, the only weak areas I see are the offensive line, both safeties and we need another corner.

That could be fixed in the draft and free agency if there's a season next year.
