Yesterday was the first game I have attended since they opened the new stadium. I went to alot of games at Texas Stadium and was sometimes critical of the home crowds there, but for bigger games (like Philly in 1992, SF in 1993) the crowds were amazing and the atmosphere was awesome.

I know yesterdays game was against a bad opponent and we were coming off an ugly loss, but geez.

The good:

1) First I wll say it is an unbelievable piece of construction. Its almost awe inspiring to see and walk through. I'm doing the tour today hopefully and will post some other thoughts on this once I get to see everything. The comments people have made about being amazed by the giant video screens are true. I saw people just gawking at it the whole day.

2) Really arnt any bad seats, I think thats something alot of people have said and I would agree. We sat in the upper level about 10 rows from the edge around the 10 yard line, and we had a great view even though we were WAY up there.

3) Cleanest sports stadium I have ever been in, by far. Tons of access to food and drink, while this seems like a good idea, it ultimately isnt (see below)

Now on to the bad.

1) Absolutely, positively the worst group of fans I have ever seen. Anywhere. The fans we sat around were mostly loser assholes. Almost nobody gave a flying shit about the game. People genuinely got perturbed that my friends and I got into the game and were actually cheering the team. People were CONSTANTLY up and down the aisle blocking the view of the field, constantly going back and forth to get food and drinks. I am not kidding when I say I am sure there were tons of people there who had no idea what the score even was.

2) I mentioned the food thing, making access to it was probably great for Jerry's pocketbook, but it really takes away from the atmosphere of the game itself because instad of cheering the team people are spending more time wandering around going to get food or drinks.

3) I've never been at any game where so many dipshit fans couldnt find their seats. I saw at least 12-15 people in the 3-4 hours we were there who were truely lost. They had no idea how to find their place.

4) Eventually the stadium filled in, but at kickoff there were tons of empty seats. They said it was 81k or so there, although I am not so sure that many actually were there.

5) Crowd noise was lousy. Has to be one of the worst home field advantages in sports. Lame, disinterested crowd that spent way more time getting food and drinks, or discussing reality shows (seriously), ths one group of women sat behind us and talked about shopping at the mall the entire game.

Damn shame. Its an amazing place and if they could ever get 80-90k of real football fans into the place they could probably blow the roof off with crowd noise. Texas Stadium was definitely a better pure football venue.

I told you noon games are bad at the start. They were at Texas stadium also.

It's not accurate to judge the crowd here by yesterdays game honestly, this town is experiencing a huge hangover from game 6 of the world series and the eagles blowing us out.

I can't speak to the upper levels, I know my section is all season ticket holders and a completely different experience than what you are talking about with the people getting up and stuff.

The crowds here are middle of the pack, about the same as every other stadium in normal situations, when we are a poor team it dips down particularly for noon games which is always late arriving and for big divisional games particularly 7 pm starts it is extemely loud.

Yesterdays atmosphere was nearly identical to the jax game last year on halloween at noon. Texas stadium was the same way.

The stadium is filled with men who bring their wives and kids and that doesn't translate to a buffalo/kc/ etc style of crowd.

I personally hate the new stadium and miss Texas stadium more and more as time goes by.

Dbair, could you cover the whole access to food and drinks, and how it affects the fan experience again? I missed that the first 12 times.

I guess I dont get why people would pay so much to go to the game, then hardly watch the game at all.

This is pretty much the same issue at every new stadium in the country. They've overpriced the whole experience and driven out the true diehard fans. Each game is now more like a corporate event along the lines of the Super Bowl. The Colts used to have the best homefield advantage in football to the point that opposing teams were accusing them of piping in fake crowd noise, but they no longer have that issue with the new stadium.

Of the games I've attended at the new stadium, I can say that the crowd was fantastic for our wildcard win vs. Philly. They typically are not concerned with the game and have no idea when to cheer though.

I think a lot of people at these games are there for free bc they got tickets from people who could care less about watching the Seahawks play.

I miss Texas Stadium too. Tickets are way too expensive to the new stadium, you can only tailgate on the outer edges of the parking lots and the crowd would rather sit on there ass and watch the video board rather than the action on the field.

Whenever I see the fans boo about something a player did or said the week before I'm shocked. Our fans suck ass.

I think there is a misunderstanding of what was boo'd yesterday. I saw some people claiming the fans were booing romo yesterday....I and the people around me thought there should have been a flag on the hawks for hitting romo after he slid and gave himself up......

saw local espn idiots saying we were booing romo for not trying to score, which is pretty much retarded.

I didn't see the game. I couldn't get a good feed. I was referring to past games.

I hope next time the game isn't shown everyone at least gives me a link to the feed. It's only a few clicks. Thanks.

i didnt think they were booing romo either..i took it as the fans were booing the lack of red zone success as a whole..could be wrong

Almost like the type who post 100,000's of times on a team message board but then have to DVR the games and watch a day or two later.

Question for Theebs and dbair - how cold was it in the stadium? Was the roof closed?

I ask because I'm going to the Buffalo game and trying to figure out if I need to wear a jacket/pants

The roof won't be open. It's climate controlled like being in a dome. I wore jeans and a long sleeve shirt under my jersey and it was actually a little warm.

I think the biggest problem with the crowd being involved is that damn video board. It's nice and all, but it really takes away from what's happening on the field. I make a conscious effort not to watch it... why pay $100 to watch it on TV when you can do that at home? But it seems like between every play and timeout there's something to watch on that screen. I think it screws with the momentum of the crowd noise and the continuity of the game.

What really bugged me was I couldn't see LA's name be revealed in the ROH because of the screen. I was on the edge where I could see Haley's name, but Allen's was directly behind it. And Drew's name was on my side of the field.

I’ve been to both stadiums and both had fans that get up every freaking second. Probably why i don’t enjoy going to live games. Texas Stadium was a disgusting mess. Why anyone would want to go back to that shit hole is beyond me.

I think the reason Cowboys Stadium sucks so bad is because the Cowboys are 116-116 with one playoff win since 1997. Fans just don’t give a fuck anymore and do you blame them? Only us idiots, that are taking the team too seriously, do.
