The Cowboys sent one scout, Chris Hall, to Texas A&M's Pro Day on Wednesday. The Aggies had 12 players work out for scouts, including receiver Jeff Fuller.
Fuller had not been expected work out Wednesday after developing a stress fracture in his foot at the Senior Bowl. He still will catch passes from Ryan Tannehill at the McFerrin Indoor Facility on March 29 during Tannehill’s turn in front of scouts.
But, with Fuller’s foot “90 percent” healed, the A&M receiver ran a 4.53 in the 40-yard dash, had a 36-inch vertical jump and showed off his route running and his hands in position drills Wednesday.
“The bone is calcifying,” Fuller said. “Since it’s healing, I wanted to come out. I can pretty much run on it until it hurts.”
Here is A&M's press release regarding the rest of the workout:
Participating in the Texas A&M Pro Day were 2011 seniors Ben Bass, Eddie Brown, Randy Bullock, Terrence Frederick, Jeff Fuller, Cyrus Gray, Trent Hunter, Tony Jerod-Eddie, Coryell Judie, Taylor Randle, Lionel Smith and Garrick Williams. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill, a projected first-round NFL draft pick, will work out for the NFL scouts later this month.
Cornerbacks Smith and Frederick impressed in the 40-yard dash with Smith posting the day’s fastest time in 4.41 seconds and Frederick being clocked in 4.42.
Smith also led Pro Day in three other drills: vertical jump (38 inches), 20-yard shuttle (4.20) and broad jump (10 feet, 7 inches).
Record-setting wide receiver Fuller, who was not scheduled to participate due to a foot injury, was impressive with a 36-inch vertical jump, 10-foot broad jump and a time of 4.53 in the 40-yard dash.
Defensive lineman Brown led the way in the bench press with 33 repetitions of 225 pounds to the delight of the onlookers in the McFerrin Center. Former A&M reserve Michael Ebbitt, who finished his career at Texas State in 2011, had 31 reps, while Jerod-Eddie had 29.
Hunter put his athleticism on display with best times in the L-drill and the long shuttle. Hunter finished the three-cone L-drill in 6.86 seconds and the long shuttle in 11.27. Smith and Randle were next fastest in the L-Drill in 7.06 while Judie turned in a 7.14. Gray was right behind Hunter in the long shuttle with a time of 11.31.
