Cowboys promote safety, cut DE
November, 29, 2010

By Tim MacMahon
IRVING, Texas -- Safety Andrew Sendejo spent less than a week on the Cowboys’ practice squad before getting promoted to the active roster.

The Cowboys made room for Sendejo, a rookie from Rice, by cutting defensive end Jimmy Saddler-McQueen.

Sendejo spent the fall playing for the UFL’s Sacramento Mountain Lions. He ranked second in the league with 48 tackles and had seven pass deflections and two interceptions. The Cowboys didn’t have to pay the UFL’s $150,000 transfer fee because they originally signed Sendejo to the practice squad.

Fullback/defensive end Alex Daniels, who was cut last week to make room for Sendejo, has returned to the Cowboys’ practice squad.

No, but they are at least attempting to address a need.

I applaud that.

They should of addressed it in the offseason, but, yes, atleast they are doing someting by promoting a no name to the roster. I am down with that, see what the boy's got.

The team was high on Earl Thomas and Nate Allen in the draft. Was available for us. And no, you don't pass on Dez Bryant for Nate Allen. AOA was selected, although I have a hard time believing the coaching staff felt he would've been able to contribute this year.

There wasn't much available in free agency.

I think the coaching staff felt that Ball would've been adequate, for at least a year or so until AOA or one of the other pups jumped into the lineup. And maybe that would've been the case if we were ever able to generate even an ounce of pressure.

But since we can't get pressure, and Jenkins is having a down year, it's not hard for quarterbacks to expose our secondary.

Odds are, Sendejo is just a warm body and won't pan out. Still, I applaud the team for at least trying something.

I honestly think Jerry Jones forced Alan Ball to starting safety on Wade Phillips. It was a harebrained idea which smacks of Jerry Jones trying to coach the team.

I agree with all.

DE and DT are far more important right now IMO. Course, a ball hawking safety or db wouldn't hurt either. Just need one. Fuck, man. every other damn team has atleast 1, or 2, Dallas has got jack shit.

No. It was Wade. I had read that when Ball was cut he was so pissed that it looked like he was going to punch Wade Phillips---now this is according to how Wade tells it, then Wade got the idea of using Ball at FS. Orioginally, you recall they toyed with the idea of Scandrick doing it.

Scandrick and Ball. TWO players that shouldn't even see the field anymore this season.

Ayuh, it has Jerry written all over it.

A continuous problem that will haunt this team until the day he's gone.

Scandrick's been pretty good the last 3 games. Not sure why he should be benched now. And he had arguably the best game of his career vs Detroit.

If that continues, great. I don't see it happening and he doesn't look to me to be a player the Cowboys should be keeping.
