HOUSTON — A two-game losing streak. A trip to a hostile stadium. A season seemingly hanging in the balance.
All of the above describes the situation the Cowboys find themselves in heading into today's game against the Houston Texans.
It's also where the Cowboys were a little more than nine months ago, when they traveled to New Orleans to face the undefeated Saints.
Coming off back-to-back December losses to the New York Giants and San Diego, Dallas was given little chance of winning in the “Big Easy.”
And then DeMarcus Ware, coming off a neck injury the week before against the Chargers, had the game of his life.
Limited to playing mainly in passing situations, the Pro Bowl outside linebacker recorded two sacks and three quarterback pressures. He also forced two fumbles, with the first takeaway leading to a field goal and the other one clinching the victory.
For Dallas to get back on track, they'll need another headline-grabbing performance from the man they like to tout as the league's top defender.
Unfortunately for the Cowboys, there are signs it may not happen.
Dallas' two sacks rank just 27th in the league. Ware and fellow outside linebacker Anthony Spencer have one each.
