Jones replaces Calloway on practice squad
To get punter Chris Jones on the practice squad Friday, the Cowboys released defensive tackle Robert Calloway. Calloway had spent the season on the practice squad.
Jones, an undrafted rookie free agent out of Carson Newman, attended training camp with Dallas. He led the Cowboys with eight punts during the preseason for a 37.0 gross average and a 33.1 net average with a long punt of 49 yards.

Garrett is "hopeful" McBriar can play Sunday
Cowboys punter Mat McBriar joined the injury report Thursday with a left foot injury. He was a full participant in practice, however.

"We're hopeful he can be able to punt for us and be active for us," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said.

Just in case, the Cowboys worked out punter Chris Jones on Thursday. They signed him to the practice squad Friday.

Jones was in training camp with Dallas and led the team with eight punts during the preseason for a 37.0 gross average and a 33.1 net average with a long punt of 49 yards.

"We have some Plan B options as well from the punting standpoint," Garrett said. "Again, we're hopeful he'll be ready to go. He's certainly progressed as the week has gone on."

The Cowboys also have worked on their Plan B options at holder for kicker Dan Bailey. Garrett mentioned backup quarterback Jon Kitna as a possible replacement. Kitna said he has never served as a holder in his career.

"We'll cross that bridge when we get there," Garrett said. "We have some options."
