Outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware (head), fullback Deon Anderson (knee) and offensive tackle Sam Young (knee) also were held out of practice.
Ware received a stinger to the head-neck region during the fourth quarter of the opener. He underwent a concussion test, which the club called a precaution, and could return to practice today.
"I'm good," Ware said.
Chicago is feverishly planning for Ware. According to quarterback Jay Cutler, offensive coordinator Mike Martz is designing ways to neutralize the pass rush of Ware and fellow outside linebacker Anthony Spencer.
"We want to keep them guessing a little bit," Cutler said. "It's good to get out of the pocket. We do well when we get outside."
When asked if Martz would come up with devices to slow Ware, Cutler said "You probably might be right."
Briefly: The Cowboys are likely to again offer cornerback Bryan McCann a spot on the practice squad. The Cowboys originally offered the spot after including McCann, of SMU, among the final cuts, but he went to Baltimore. The Ravens cut him Wednesday. The Cowboys have only three cornerbacks on the 53-man roster.
... The Cowboys will stay with Akwasi Owusu-Ansah and Kevin Ogletree as kickoff returners, leaving Felix Jones at running back. Jones averaged 22.6 yards for 30 returns last season. ... To spur interest in paid tours of Cowboys Stadium, the Cowboys will take their team picture and go through a few light activities at their stadium Saturday morning. They will have other attractions, such as autograph sessions with former players, at the ballpark on each Saturday before a home game.
