Anthony Spencer had one of his more active games in recent weeks in the loss to Philadelphia.

It cost him.

The league fined the Cowboys linebacker $12,500 for a hit he applied to Eagles quarterback Mike Vick late in the second quarter of Sunday's game. It was determined that Spencer hit Vick in the head after his pass to DeSean Jackson fell incomplete in the final two minutes of the second quarter.

Spencer was not fined for a first quarter hit along the Philadelphia sidelines when he aggressively pushed Vick out of bounds.

Spencer did not have a sack in Sunday's loss, his last sack came in October against Jacksonville, but he was credited with two quarterback pressures. That equaled the number he had in the previous four games combined.

I think Spencer is going to get started next 2nd half. In 2011.

One of the biggest mysteries I've seen with a player.

You can say he just sucks. But then how could he be so dominant for a 6 game stretch at the end of last year? You can't do that unless the talent's there.

Yet that's the only time in his career where he's been a factor in the pass rush.

I don't get it.

I don't know about Spencer. I don't really give a shit about him or any other player on defense. The whole defense can hold hands with the offensive line and go F themselves.

On Spencer getting fined. . .Is this something that would be addressed in the new CBA? Something that would limit ***dell from sis-a-fying the league anymore than he has? I mean, this is a sport that used to be played by men. Sure their bodies are on the line, but they are well compensated for it. Afterall, 99% of these guys wouldn't have the smarts to make the kind of money they're pulling down playing this game if they weren't athletic.

It really makes me sick to my stomach the way the game has been watered down. This is the reason guys like Tashard Choice are able to request autographs at midfield after a game. This shit wouldn't fly back in the day, maybe as early as 10 years ago. Todays player is soft and wouldn't last. They may be faster, but they aren't shit when it comes to toughness.

What are they doing to the sport we love?

Every single word in this is 100% spot on. I will make sure my wife is over later for a reach around. Nice post.

I don't understand how Spencer is getting fined for this.

I think fines should be reserved for when a defender purposely hits a QB in the head. Spencer made a legal tackle, with no ill-intent. He didn't use his helmet as a weapon, and he wasn't targeting Vicks head. Most QB's are 6'2"-6'5". Vick is 6'. So if Spencer makes that same play on any other QB in the league, his helmet is hitting the QB's shoulder.

In fact, I didn't even think the flag should've been thrown. I thought the refs were just making up for that missed late hit on the sidelines earlier in the game, when a flag should've been thrown.

The league is missing the intent of the rule by fining Spencer here. This probably has something to do with Reids bitching last week about Vick taking too many shots.
