Last year it was Nnamdi Asomugha, Cullen Jenkins, Jason Babin and Vince Young joining up to play with Michael Vick, and this year wide receiver Plaxico Burress is already campaigning for the Eagles to sign him. "It's just an exciting time for me being a free agent and having the opportunity to be any place I want to be," Burress saidduring an interview with Philadelphia radio station WPEN-FM this week. "Obviously, Philadelphia is one of those places." "Nothing else would make me happier ... coming to Philadelphia," Burress said. "It just adds a unique dynamic to what's already in place." For the Cowboys' purposes, it certainly would be a unique dynamic attempting to defend the Eagles. Dallas has had its share of problems guarding bigger pass-catchers over the years, not to mention the challenge presented by Philadelphia's speed on offense. The Cowboys had no answer for the Eagles in two games against them in 2011. Burress has had some of his greatest success against the Cowboys over the years, mostly as a member of the Giants, but he also had a nice game in the season opener last year while playing for the Jets. Burress caught four passes for 72 yards, including a touchdown, in the New York win. In nine games against the Cowboys during his career, he has 39 receptions, only averaging more catches per game against the Bengals, who he played mostly in the first half of his career, spent with Pittsburgh. Burress' seven touchdowns against the Cowboys are his most versus any opponent. After missing two seasons while serving a prison stint, Burress returned last year to show he still has something left in the tank. He caught 45 passes for 612 yards and eight touchdowns with the Jets in 2011. |
