IRVING, Texas -- The Cowboys played most of Sunday's game with backup cornerbacks. They hope to have a full complement of corners when the Lions come to town this weekend.

Mike Jenkins did not return after spraining his neck against the Giants "but seemed like he was doing better today," interim coach Jason Garrett said. Terence Newman sprained his left ankle and was limited to playing in the nickel package during the second half.

Garrett offered high praise for reserve cornerbacks Bryan McCann and Orlando Scandrick. McCann's 101-yard touchdown interception was the biggest play of the game. Scandrick played well throughout the game, highlighted by breaking up a pass intended for Ramses Barden in the end zone in the second quarter.

Other than starting free safety Alan Ball, Scandrick and McCann are the only healthy cornerbacks on the roster. Garrett left open the possibility of searching for help at the position but hopes that won't be necessary.

"We’ve just got to see how these guys respond coming back," Garrett said. "It seemed they came in today and people were optimistic. So we’ll evaluate that as the week goes on."

This is a mistake, IMO.

Bring someone in now. After Detroit, we play New Orleans and Indianapolis. And then, oh yeah, Philadelphia.

Why not get someone in now, if for nothing else than to get them some reps and familiarity with the defense?

Should have went after Al Harris.

Nope we need to find out what we have with the youngsters(No Playoffs anyway) and I gurantee you Al Harris would not have made it to 50yd line if you could put him in the same spot as McCann on his pick 6..

A total non issue.

We won't win or lose games because of who plays cornerback.
