Cowboys got a “ton of information” from Rob Ryan before lockout started
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 13, 2011, 7:33 PM EDT
The disappointing Cowboys defense has a new leader and a new version of the team’s 3-4 defense. A long work stoppage will make things tougher on defensive coordinator Rob Ryan to teach, so he did as much work as possible in February.
“At some point, most everybody was in there,” linebacker Sean Lee told the Dallas Morning News. “They were making sure they had all the information they could get to take with them into the offseason. I thought we did a really good job preparing for this. I don’t think we’re going to lose a step because of that.”
The NFL discouraged any teaching sessions from teams that were out of the ordinary, but never seemed interested in enforcing the policy. Lee says Ryan gave them a “ton of information” but the league has bigger things to worry about right now.
And the Cowboys defense should be better off because of it.
“Whenever we do start again,” Lee said, “we’re not going to be learning from scratch.”
