Talkin' Cowboys
The NFL, no later than Tuesday, announces if the Philadelphia Eagles-Cowboys game will remain an NBC Sunday Night Football affair Dec. 12 or will be "flexed" back to Fox for afternoon broadcast. The Cowboys, who play the Colts in Indianapolis on Dec. 5, very well could be 3-9 going into the Eagles game.
Bet that the Eagles-Cowboys game remains a prime-time offering. Tampa Bay-Washington is the only Fox game that could replace it that could have two teams with winning records.
We do know the 3-8 Cowboys will be Fox's featured game when they visit the Colts. Troy Aikman and Joe Buck will be in the broadcast booth. It is a rare opportunity for Fox to have a Peyton Manning game, which the network would have been hard-pressed to pass up.
The Cowboys' loss to the Saints earned a 14.7 major market rating across the country, making it Fox's highest-rated Thanksgiving Day game since 1995. The game scored a 26.7 in Dallas-Fort Worth and a 38.9 in Saints-crazed New Orleans. The New England Patriots-Detroit Lions game scored a 15.0, CBS' best since it got back in the NFL business in 1998.
