IRVING, Texas -- With Miles Austin possibly out until December because of a hamstring injury suffered Sunday against Seattle, the Cowboys have four wide receivers on the 53-man roster: Dez Bryant, Laurent Robinson, Kevin Ogletree and Jesse Holley.
The Cowboys could look to make an addition to the roster this week.
“We just have to kind of play the whole thing out,” coach Jason Garrett said. “See the extent of the injury first and foremost and then kind of look at the landscape - who’s available, who might help us, both on our team and also outside of our team – so we are still in the process of going through those discussions.”
The Cowboys have four wide receivers on the practice squad in Dwayne Harris, Andre Holmes, Teddy Williams and Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, who was moved from safety earlier this offseason.
Harris handled punt return duties earlier in the year and could take over the job again. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones has expressed reluctance at using Bryant at the spot and Austin’s absence would seem to only add to Jones’ worries.
Holmes has impressed the coaches with his work in practices after joining the team following training camp, but he missed Friday’s practice with a hamstring injury.
