IRVING -- Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said "it's the nature of football" for quarterback Tony Romo to beat himself up after a game where he struggles late such as the 27-24 loss Sunday night at the New York Jets.

"Certainly, the quarterback is the most-scrutinized position on the field and Tony did a lot of great things throughout that ballgame last night, really played very, very well and then made a couple of critical mistakes," Garrett said. "He's a guy who has had a lot of success as our quarterback. He's a guy that's helped us get a lot of leads in the fourth quarter throughout his career. He's done a great job keeping some of those leads or most or the large majority of those leads throughout his career.

"Sometimes it goes the other way. He's not the only quarterback this happens to. A lot of great quarterbacks who have played in this organization and played throughout the league have had similar things happen to them late in ballgames. And hopefully Tony will learn from this experience. There's no question in my mind he will learn from this experience. We've just got to get better as a football team, because there were some signature plays from the game last night that certainly hurt us that he was involved in, but there were some other plays that hurt us as well and we've got to clean those up. It's our job as a staff to help our players clean those things up and help our team to clean them up so we can go forward and win some of those games in the future."

This is the first stupid thing Garrett has said, IMO.

He's not some young pup anymore. If he hasnt' learned after 9 years in the league, he aint gonna.

Weird right? I always tended to find rays of sunshine with comments like that, but then I wondered how I'd feel if McNabb or some other longtime shitbird QB (hello, Eli) said something like that. That crap doesn't wash with a veteran QB and I don't know why we keep hearing it out of Romo's camp.

I watched Tom Brady last night.

My view of Romo just fell a couple of notches.

Typical Tony Romo. I know it takes a team, but there have been a lot of player changes over the years, but the same thing keeps happening under Romo. He'll have some great stats and some great videos, but when it comes down to it; he chokes. Stats are great, but it's the "W" that counts. He's had enough time to get it, and he still doesn't.

And this is like saying that after coaching and playing the league league for decades, Garrett will gain experience, learn valuable lessons, and take to heart what he's learned about time management and running shotgun passes in the redzone.

I see nothing wrong with running shotgun passes in the red zone.

Running shot-gun formations in the redzone is bad because there is such a short field for the defense to defend. It would be a nice, complementary piece for an offense to throw something else at teams, but using it as a sort of base is ridiculous. Thankfully it appears that we'll run more than line up in the shotgun there.

This is like saying a retarded kid is suddenly going to be able to count to ten without chewing off a finger.

Tony will be fine. He obviously makes some bonehead decisions, but you'd think he would of gotten over that at this point in his career.

He'll think twice before he pulls the trigger this week. If not I'd bench him for a quarter.
