The Dallas Cowboys were among 27 teams that monitored Eastern Washington running back Taiwan Jones workout session today.

According to Foxsports.com, Jones' times in the 40 ranged from 4.29 to 4.35. With EWU last season, Jones ran for at least 145 yards in nine games. He is listed at 5-11 1/2 and 195 pounds.

"Taiwan Jones is an under-the-radar tailback that most NFL teams can't wait to watch,'' analyst Mike Maycock said last week on NFL.com. "He's a home-run hitter who can impact the return game, and I think that you try to get him another 10 touches per game as a change-of-pace back.''

I think it was also Mayock who claimed he is the fastest player in this year's draft.

He's no CJ but if he drops far enought, I hope we take a chance. MB's gone and I want more than 1 RB with speed.

He's Kiper's top RB sleeper.

And Mel's got that Hillsdale receiver we had in for a visit, Andre Holmes, as one of his WR sleepers.

I have been doing a lot more reading on Taiwan Jones lately, I might have to add him to my list of draft pets.

I haven't read anything stating that, have you?

Everything I've read was pretty good and no mentioning of an injury or off the field issues.

Negatives: Has a frail build, legs are thin and he doesn't appear to have much strength in his lower body... Leaves the ball exposed when he's running... Runs upright, looks like he's running the 100 meter dash more so than running with the football, doesn't lower his pad level... Marginal leg drive, keeps his legs moving but doesn't have the power to go anywhere with it... Poor blocker... Tons of injury concerns, always seems to be nicked up... Played against FCS competition at Eastern Washington... Runs east/west too much and wants to break the big play every time he touches the football... Did not work out at the combine due to a foot injury.

I can't find where I read he has major maturity issues, but I've read it somewhere.

Shit. If true I wouldn't want another injury prone RB.

There's too many in the draft where you can find a good healthy all around back.

All I can find on his injuries was during the season with his leg and foot. He's some youtube videos of this kid.

This article is old, but hey.

EWU's star tailback Jones out for semis
By Steve Bergum, The (Spokane) Spokesman-Review
CHENEY -- Eastern Washington University's Bo Levi Mitchell didn't transfer from Southern Methodist just to play 11 regular-season games and sack up the footballs.

"This is exactly why I came here," the 6-foot-2, 210-pound junior said on Saturday after leading the No. 1-ranked Eagles (11-2) to a riveting 38-31 Roos Field overtime win over North Dakota State in the quarterfinals of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.

"I love the playoffs, especially when you get a chance to play the defending national champions in your own house."

Which is exactly what Eastern will do on Friday, when it entertains last year's FCS champion, Villanova (9-4), in a semifinal playoff showdown that kicks off at 5 p.m.

What Mitchell didn't know at the time he made his comments, however, was that his sensational junior running back Taiwan Jones, who rushed for 230 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' win over the Bison, will not be available against the Wildcats.

Jones, who limped off the field early in the fourth quarter of Saturday's with an apparent leg injury, had X-rays taken Sunday, and it was determined -- EWU's head athletic trainer Brian Norton said -- that he had fractured the fifth metatarsal in his left foot.

Jones, Norton added, will consult with an orthopedic specialist today to determine whether surgery in necessary.

And there could be a slight chance, should the surgery be performed, that the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder could return for in time for the FCS championship game in Frisco, Texas, on Jan. 7 -- provided the Eagles can get past Villanova on Friday.

"I'm disappointed for Taiwan," EWU's third-year coach Beau Baldwin said in a story posted on the Eagles' football website. "He's worked so hard, and without Taiwan we wouldn't be in this position. It's always disappointing when one of your players is not able to go -- especially one so instrumental to our success this season."

With Jones on the shelf, the majority of Eastern's ball-carrying duties will probably fall on true freshman Mario Brown and junior Darriell Beaumonte.

Brown has rushed for 214 yards and a one touchdown this fall, while Beaumonte has rushed for 216 yards and two TDs.

"Our other players have to step up," Baldwin said. "This is a challenge that our player need to attack and go after. But it's going to be disappointing to not see that young man (Jones) play on Friday."
