Cornerback Orlando Scandrick gave an eloquent, thoughtful response the other day when asked how this team will stay together and get back on track.
"Me and Mike (Jenkins) have been here three years together,'' Scandrick said. "I remember sitting in that Marriott over there when we just got drafted and coming to rookie minicamp. We put in way too much work to let it go down the drain right now and fall apart. We need to stay positive.
"There's a lot of stuff going around. There's going to be people with a lot of opinions. That's just the world we live in. That's the business we live in, the business we play in. Perception is everything in the NFL. This is a perception business. We all know that.
"But we need to stay together, take it one day at a time, one play at a time. The easiest way to fix this is play one play at a time and 10 times out of 10, you win games.''
Why hasn't that happened yet?
"We're not playing good football right now,'' Scandrick said. "We play good football for 75 percent of the time, have a lapse, then play good football 85 percent of the time
