IRVING – In a strange way, Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins believes seeing Randy Moss on Sunday could be the best way for him to follow up a sluggish showing against Tennessee.
"I was going to put that behind me no matter what, just like having a good week," said Jenkins, who had two pass interference penalties, dropped an interception and was beaten for a 52-yard completion. "I'm definitely looking forward to it, and it's not just [Moss] but Brett Favre too, watching those guys."
Last week, Moss had four catches for 81 yards and a 37-yard touchdown in his first game with the Vikings since the trade. The Cowboys only have so much film to go by on his time with Minnesota, so they have dug up his work in New England, too.
"He's one of those players you want to go against," Jenkins said. "Just growing up, watching him, you always wanted to guard him just to show everybody that you're the type of caliber of player to be next to a guy like that."
Sore ankle slows Bryant: A bum right ankle kept Dez Bryant off the practice field for the third straight day. He is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Minnesota.
In Sunday's loss against Tennessee, Bryant aggravated the high ankle sprain that bothered him for most of training camp and kept him out of the five preseason games.
Wade Phillips said Bryant could play despite not practicing because he has been involved in the team's morning walkthroughs. If Bryant can play, he could see his punt return duties taken away with rookie Akwasi Owusu-Ansah or Terence Newman handling the job. Sam Hurd would move into the No. 3 receiver role if Bryant does not play.
Reality show survivor: Last summer, Jesse Holley earned a training camp shot through Michael Irvin's reality show, Fourth and Long. Now the wide receiver is on the Cowboys' 53-man roster.
Holley was called up from the practice squad Friday with the Cowboys looking to give a jolt to their special teams. In last year's preseason game at Minnesota, he had an 82-yard punt return for a score.
"I guess the legend of Jesse Holley kind of started in Minnesota," Holley joked. "I get a chance to come back. I hope the magic is still there."
To make room for Holley, offensive tackle Robert Brewster, a third-round pick in 2009, was released. Brewster, who missed his rookie year with a torn pectoral muscle, was active for the season opener as a reserve. He is eligible for the practice squad.
Briefly: Safety Alan Ball (shoulder), tight end Martellus Bennett (ankle), linebacker Bradie James (knee) and defensive end Igor Olshansky (knee) took part in their first full practices Friday and are listed as probable. Fullback Chris Gronkowski (groin) is also probable. Center Andre Gurode was limited in Friday's practice because of a knee injury but is listed as probable.
