IRVING, Texas -- Cowboys Stadium is a beautiful building. At $1.2 billion many consider it the best athletic facility in the world.
It might be too nice because it’s just not that difficult of a place for opponents. Despite Justin Tuck calling the place "crappy," I wonder if that because it is so new and pretty, that fans just don’t want to get too rowdy and sully the joint.
The Cowboys are 14-9 at home in its two-plus years, including playoffs. The Cowboys are 5-1 at home this year, but the wins have come against Washington, St. Louis, Seattle, Buffalo and Miami. Hardly a Murderer’s Row. The loss was against Detroit.
For all of the people the stadium can fit, it just doesn’t get that loud. It’s loud, but not so loud that other teams have trouble operating offensively. Teams have committed nine false-start penalties in six games this year and four came against the Dolphins (three on left tackle Jake Long).
This Sunday, the Cowboys are asking you to bring some noise when they play the New York Giants in Arlington.
“We need them to be loud and take ownership of homefield and what that means,” tight end Jason Witten said. “I think we have some of the best fans out there, but we need them this week.”
Said DeMarcus Ware, “It should be the loudest stadium so we have that 12th man. When our stadium gets loud, you can’t hear anything. We need that 12th man.”
