The Cowboys restructed the contracts of DeMarcus Ware and Miles Austin, clearing more than $11 million in cap room. The team was $6.6 million over the cap following all their free agent signings on Thurday. The Cowboys still have the optioin of redoing the contract of quarterback Tony Romo.

But the good news, in the interim, is that Cowboys are under the cap and have the flexibility to add more players in free agency.

Owner Jerry Jones acknowledged as much on Thursday, saying his team would still be players in the free agent market.

Coach Jason Garrett admitted on Friday the Cowboys could add a third receiver in free agency if Kevin Ogletree doesn't step up.

The Cowboys also be in the market for a swing tackle cause top backup Sam Young has struggled so far in camp.

The smart guys should have re-structured a lot of those bad contracts a few seasons ago. Should have been front loaded in the uncapped year, IMO.

Looks like we're F'ed going forward.

Another receiver, eh?

Maybe, Mark Clayton, Jerricho Cotchery, Dwayne Jarrett to name a few.

I'd rather shore up the offensive line first though.

The Austin contract was a bit of genius, but you are right about the others. Austin's contract was structured so we could either carry his $8 million this year if there was no cap, or restructure it with some very cap friendly numbers over the next few seasons. I don't know why we only had one player signed to this type of deal.

That Crayton dismissal last year is haunting us to this day.
