Could Sensabaugh have made a difference?

IRVING, Texas -- Safety Gerald Sensabaugh was watching the fourth quarter Sunday from inside the Cowboys’ locker room when Detroit wide receiver Calvin Johnson out-jumped Barry Church, Mike Jenkins and Sean Lee for a ridiculous 23-yard touchdown grab.

Maybe Sensabaugh would not have made a difference on the 6-5 Johnson, but he has recorded a 46-inch vertical leap. You saw him use his vertical to block a kick in the preseason too.

“That was pretty much my responsibility the whole game was to play on top of Calvin and make sure he didn’t get any jump balls and play over the top of him,” Sensabaugh said.

A concussion, however, knocked Sensabaugh out of the game, leaving him helpless.

Sensabaugh did not practice this week but he said he could have returned Sunday if allowed.

“But I guess with the new precautionary reasons anytime you’re a little woozy they have to take you out of the game and you can’t come back,” Sensabaugh said. “They won’t even let you go back on the field and watch the game. I was kind of disappointed in that. I really wanted to be a part of the game.”

sensebaugh equals playing excellent so far.

and the drop off from him to church was painfully obvious sunday. There is no comparison to the two players.

Had sensebaugh stayed healthy they never move the ball....stafford was confused and didnt know what to do with johnson doubled...as soon as church was in stafford just started lobbing it up to johnson and staring him down...

its a shame. the interceptions were the death blow but had sensebaugh stayed healthy I dont think they score on us.

I would say no, Sensebaugh couldn't have prevented the three INTs that killed the game.

I gotta agree with you there even though I'm not a fan of Sensabaugh.

They struggled without him in there.

Believe it or not Sensabaugh brings some leadership to that secondary that Church couldn't.

Having said this I'm still looking forward to the next Darren Woodson on this defense.

Sensy is playing a heck of a lot better than last year. I think the dude was just bored playing for Wade Phillips. Still would like a better replacement. Which isn't Church.

Next time we have an injury to a safety i would prefer to see McCray come in and play SS in the box and slide Elam over to FS, rather than have Church come in at FS.
