I ran across a quick list of every team’s draft from last week and just scanning through the players, it’s obviously difficult at this point to determine how anyone did. I’m still convinced that the best draft grades (right after the draft) are for the teams that take well-known players later on. It’s easy to say you’ve got “good value” on a player if you’ve heard of him.

So, that being said, take a look at the other drafts in the NFC East and see if anything scares you.

For both the Eagles and Giants, their second-round picks were players the Cowboys really liked – and obviously could’ve drafted at No. 40. Marvin Austin has the build to play a 3-4 nose and Jaiquawn Jarrett is a bigger defensive back who likely will play safety. Those are two need spots, but apparently, the Cowboys just couldn’t pass up on the value of Bruce Carter.

In about 2-3 years, we’ll know for sure who really did well in this draft. But at this point, I don’t think I’d trade the Cowboys’ draft for any other, especially within the division.

Eatman's such a moron.

He puts his own draft ignorance on all the fans. "It's easy to like certain draft classes when you know some of the early round players."

What an idiot. The guy should be f'n fired yesterday.

The Giants had the best draft withing the division, that cannot be denied. Then I would say the Cowboys are second.

I can understand why some would say they were the best.

But I don't think it's a slam dunk. It's between the Giants and Cowboys. Philly didn't impress me this year. Washington started well then fizzled after three picks.

The Cowboys have a real chance to add a beast of a starting LT, a freak athletic starting ILB, a versatile 20 touch a game RB and possibly even a starting G and an effective slot receiver.

And that doesn't mention Josh Thomas, who can play a little and Shaun Chapas, who has a chance to fill that niche FB role.

And then, ya know, Bill Nagy. G/S/M.

Please.

They had a quality draft class.

If we had done that same draft, you'd be going ballistic.

I'm also not all that high on Marvin Austin. Especially when they had invested so much previously on DL.

I wouldn't be going ballistic. I like our draft. I like their draft. I wouldn't trade ours for theirs. But I do see a lot of value in their class. At least they didn't take Amukamara in the top 10. Austin is the same value 2nd rounder as his teammate Bruce Carter. Jernigan will give that offense some speed in the slot. Brewer was one of my favorite sleepers. Jones and Scott were nice late round picks.

All in all, solid B grade.
