Columnist: Cowboys' DeMarcus Ware No. 3 player in NFL; Tony Romo not a Top 12 QB

CBSSports.com writer Pete Prisco thinks Dallas Cowboys defender DeMarcus Ware is the third-best player in the NFL and the best defensive player overall.

He put Tom Brady and Peyton Manning in a tie at No. 1 in his Top 100 NFL player rankings:

Here's what Prisco wrote about the Cowboys (with rankings).

3. DeMarcus Ware, OLB, Dallas Cowboys: He's the most-feared pass rusher in the league. Even as the Dallas defense struggled last season, Ware was still a force off the edge, leading the NFL in sacks with 15 1/2.

19. Jason Witten, TE, Dallas Cowboys: He is the best all-around tight end in the game. He led all tight ends with 94 catches last season.

86. Jay Ratliff, NT, Dallas Cowboys: He didn't play as well in 2010 as he did the year before, but he remains a top interior lineman.

Prisco also did not have Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo in his Top 100 or honorable mentions.

The 12 quarterbacks he thought are better:

1. (tie) Peyton Manning, QB, Indianapolis Colts and Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots 6. Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers 10. Drew Brees, QB, New Orleans Saints 14. Philip Rivers , QB, San Diego Chargers 21. Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers 22. Mike Vick, QB, Philadelphia Eagles 50. Matt Ryan , QB, Atlanta Falcons 66. Matt Schaub , QB, Houston Texans 92. Josh Freeman , QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Just missed: Joe Flacco , QB, Baltimore Ravens; Matt Cassel, QB, Kansas City Chiefs
As far as the NFC East:

The Giants had just one player in his top 50 (DE Justin Tuck at 43).

The Eagles had three: 22. Mike Vick, QB; 34. DeSean Jackson , WR; 48. Asante Samuel, CB.

The Redskins had none. lol

I see Prisco agrees with me that DeSean Jackson is the best WR in the division.

I'll suck a six pack of dicks if Joe Flacco is a better QB than Tony Romo.

I don't have a problem with the first 7. Maybe 8 with Ryan. After that you're stretching it.

Josh Freeman is better? Matt Cassel? Cmon.

Matt freaking Cassel? I'm an unashamed Romo homer (I'd put him in my top 6), but Prisco's gotta be smoking something.

So how the f -uck is Schaub, who never led his team to the playoffs is better than Romo? And Vick was ONE AND DONE in the playoffs, but he's better?

Uh oh. I guess we can expect another tweet form Orakpo as to how he is now going to kill the league.

Vick made it to the NFC Championship game in his career.

He absolutely belongs over Romo.

No he doesn't. What has he done lately? It's that kind of (il)logic that suggests that Dilfer is better than Marino because Dilfer won a SUper Bowl and Marino did not.

Exactly. Only shitheads think like that.

I didnt need to see Aaron Rodgers win it this year to think he was great.

The point was Vick is not a one and done playoff QB. He's actually had more success than Romo. And now that I've pointed that out suddenly postseason success doesn't matter anymore.

Yeah I knew Rodgers was better than Romo before last year but almost all Cowboys fans didn't.

Last year he was one and done. And you are contradicting yourself. Because if you were going on accomplishments---which you were in saying that Vick is better than Romo, than you couldn't at the time say that Rodgers was better than Romo at the time you claim you said it. But what else is new.

Flawless victory.

You wont get your response.

Also Mark Sanchez is better than Romo apparently

No. I'm not contradicting anything. I'm not making postseason success the criteria, you did.

You are the one who tried to discredit Vick. Saying how can they put him ahead of Romo since he was one and done.

Then I pointed out that Vick has had more postseason success than Romo.

You immediately decided postseason success no longer mattered.

Unless we just count this year. Where somehow Vick's one and done was worse than Romo's none.

I knew Rodgers was better without the Super Bowl run. And I know Vick is better right now. He wasn't before, he is now. Credit Andy Reid for straightening him out.

And, of course, it doesn't hurt to have the division's best WR on the roster. Prisco and the majority of the NFL world agrees.

At this juncture, I wouldn't take Vick over Romo, no matter how much post season success he's had.
