IRVING, Texas -- In some ways the Cowboys enjoy the thrill of the chase when it comes to landing college free agents after the draft.
That could not happen Saturday because of the lockout rules, and Cowboys Vice President Stephen Jones admitted to being “bored” following the draft.
The Cowboys have found undrafted gems and they can look at their quarterback (Tony Romo) and No,. 1 wide receiver (Miles Austin) as perfect examples. But it is not just those two. The Cowboys have similar success stories with Stephen Bowen, Sam Hurd and Kevin Ogletree. Last year they had Barry Church, Phil Costa, Chris Gronkowski and Danny McCray make the opening day roster.
Once a new collective bargaining agreement is reached or the injunction on lifting the lockout is finalized teams will be able to sign college free agents.
“That has been a big part of our player acquisition, college free agency,” Jones said.
