It sounds like the coaching staff hasn’t just been finalized but will finally get announced publically on Thursday. That’s when the Cowboys have also scheduled an official interview session for the entire coaching staff at 1 p.m. at Valley Ranch.
It’ll be the first time for us to talk with defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who is well known for his one-liners – not to mention his aggressive defenses and the football genes of his immediate family.
Wide receiver coach Jimmy Robinson, who is also the assistant head coach, should be an interesting story having come from Green Bay this past season. He’s worked with a ton of great receivers over the year and now he’ll get the project to coach Dez Bryant and Miles Austin.
Other new coaches include defensive line coach Brian Baker, linebackers coach Matt Eberflus and of course, new strength and conditioning coach Mike Woicik, who held this same position for seven years from 1990-96, winning three Super Bowl rings. He also won three more in New England, where he spent the last 10 years.
Other coaches from last year’s staff are expected to have some titles, such as John Garrett, who has reportedly been given the passing game coordinator title, in addition to his tight end coaching duties.
So while Roby Ryan might seem like old news to some, getting his thoughts and opinions about coaching here in Dallas, not to mention the thoughts of the rest of the staff, will certainly be a nice change to the quiet settings that have taken over here at Valley Ranch these days.
