Colts hire Ryan Grigson as new GM

The Indianapolis Colts hired Philadelphia Eagles director of player personnel Ryan Grigson as their new general manager, the team announced Wednesday.

Grigson was in Indianapolis on Tuesday, interviewing for the position for a second time.

Colts owner Jim Irsay previously listed Grigson as one of seven candidates for the position that opened when Irsay fired vice chairman Bill Polian and his son, Chris, the team's GM.

The St. Louis Rams told The Associated Press that Grigson interviewed for their vacant GM job Monday.

He started off with a bang, trading fasano and a starting linebacker for a two. Then drafting Bennett.

It's been about on par with that since then. Smith and lee are the only big time players ne has added.

I'm sure Ciskowski wasn't the one making trades. Having Bennett as a 2nd rounder though...

Mike Jenkins and Felix Jones are good players. Dez Bryant is a very good player. Sean Lee is a stud. Demarco Murray appears to be a bigtime RB in the making. Bruce Carter we'll find out about this coming training cmap and preseason, but he is an exceptional talent. Bennett never panned out into a more important player, but he was a solid role player and an outstanding blocking TE. Scandrick was a nice pick in the 5th round. Lissemore and Brent certainly look like nice players. The jury is out on a few others from last year, and he has done a good job of finding quality UDFA's

You can certainly point to the 2009 draft and cream him over that (deservedly) but other than that draft he has done quite well.

And Fasano got traded because he couldnt pick up the offense, in addition to them feeling like he was no more than an average blocker. Getting a 4th rd pick for two guys who were going to be cut anyway (Ayodele and Fasano) was not a bad move.

Jenkins, bryant and Felix have not been big time difference makers. There is a chance for DEz still. He should get better, the other two are just guys. Up and down and always hurt.

The reasons for trading fasano have never been made clear, there were three different reasons given and no one knows.
They said it was his shoulder injuries and he wouldn't last, I'd he could not play special teams and they said he struggled with the offense.

They were wrong on all 3 and they added a dummy to the team with a poor work ethic and a crappy attitude.

And again, you shouldn't miss on first round picks, something this organization has done. Having them become just ok players and then blowing the middle of the draft is what has caused this team to struggle.

Ciskowski was put in charge of a group where all he had to do was fill in the role players, not the skill positions.....not the difficult positions. And he has not been able to do it.

His picks in the secondary are just awful.

Smith and lee look like his best picks. And smith was picked at 9. I don't think getting a good player at 9 really means your doing your job well.

Demarco Murray, bruce carter Sean lissemore have flashed potential along with Brent....but long term we don't know if any of these guys can become rock solid cornerstone guys for the organization.

I hope this years draft gets better.

I liked to ciskowski when I first read about him back in 03, I thought we were going to be set for a long time with the group we had. We are not. They have struggled alot. They have to get better.
