Chris Johnson: Fast with predictions, but not yards

Chris Johnson had a spectacular season in 2009 when he became the sixth player in history to rush for more than 2,000 yards.

Johnson finished with 2,006 yards and in the off-season, he proved his mouth was as prolific as his rushing totals. Johnson not only predicted he would gain 2,500 yards this season, but he also said he could win a sprint against Olympic champion Usain Bolt.

Johnson has only 334 yards after four games, meaning he would have to average 180.5 in his last 12 games to make 2,500. But even if he isn’t as good as he says he is, Wade Phillips said Johnson is the fastest player in the league.

But the Cowboys do have a player who can partially emulate Johnson in practice this week -- San Antonio sprinter Teddy Williams, who is on the practice squad. Williams once ran a 9.9 100 meters.

“He can simulate the speed,” Phillips said of Williams. “He won’t be a running back but he does have similar speed.”
