Chris Cooley on Tony Romo choking

By Dan Steinberg

(MIKE STONE - REUTERS) As the Redskins were holding on to a sort of ugly 17-10 win on Sunday, Tony Romo was doing far uglier, throwing three picks — two returned for touchdowns — as Dallas blew a 24-point lead at home.

In fact, for all the talk of Bad Rex, I think Bad Tony might be more of a thing. As Charean Williams noted, “In his past 10 starts, Romo is 3-7. Four of the losses were games in which Romo had at least two turnovers, including both Cowboys’ losses this season.” Romo has five interceptions and three fumbles this year, while Rex Grossman has five interceptions and two fumbles. Of the NFC East’s starting QBs, Eli Manning has the fewest turnovers. Snort.

Anyhow, if you thought that the Redskins players themselves weren’t delighting in Romo’s follies, you’d be wrong.

“It’s SO good,” Chris Cooley said of Romo’s performance during his weekly appearance on the LaVar and Dukes show. “I was watching the scoreboard in St. Louis, and I didn’t see that they’d lost really until they end, I thought they blew them out so I kind of stopped paying attention. It’s amazing, AMAZING to watch him choke like that.

“I’m just saying, I’m up 24 points in the third quarter, if I’m the head coach, I feel like I could probably just take a knee for the rest of the game, punt it away and there’s no way that Detroit’s gonna drive on you that many times,” Cooley continued. “The only way you’re gonna give up that many points is turnovers, right? It’s hilarious to watch him throw pick sixes, too, back-to-back. I loved it. But it wouldn’t be as good as my cage fight.”

This cagefighting thing refers to a previous week’s episode, and so LaVar Arrington then asked Cooley how long it would take him to beat Romo in the cage.

“For me to beat Tony? I’m gonna be honest, I don’t know what kind of cagefighting skills he has,” Cooley responded. “I would probably try to incorporate my wrestling ability, like when I was in high school. Obviously it’s been a while, but I didn’t like to beat people fast. I like to embarrass ‘em a little bit. Like, take a 24-point lead, and then just play with it a little bit.”

Dang. I mean, dang.

LOL. Insert Redskins with Lions, and Romo still throws those 3 INTs, and the Cowboys would still win.

Cooley took a shot at Romo and Garrett there.

If we had a nasty defensive player with any kind of heart, Cooley would be hammered next game. Lee has heart but I don't think he would play angry. Abram Elam maybe?

Skins are halfway to their win total this season and talking shit....It's gonna be funny when they come crashing down to reality. They've played creampuffs. Dont forget, they still play the Patriots, Lions, Bills, Jets.......

I'd rather we had a nasty defensive player with any kind of hear that would first hammer Romo, then go after Cooley.

They don't play the Lions in this regular season.

I heard Garrett's post game speech was "don't worry about the loss, we beat the Redskins last week. See you Wednesday"

Doubt it. Neither Garrett, nor the players, and even the fans are as fixated on the Redskins like you and the rest of your fandom and the players are fixated on the Cowboys.

Read my post again, use your brain a little more, then come back to me, and it's pretty ballsy of you to talk about other people being obsessed with rival teams. When I troll a Cowboys message board I'll get back to you on that.

I wish Cooley was a Cowboy instead of a Redskin. He is the type of lighthearted moron we need to break the tension around here.

We have plenty of dickbags around here.

Somebody's going to shove it in and break it off when we play Cooley and the Sk*ns in WAS later in the year. It should be fun to watch.
