Related items With the NFL remaining in lockout mode, writers are left to speculate on what will happen when free agency begins.

CBSSports.com’s Pete Prisco is one of the writer’s that has given an educated guess on where 10 free-agents might land heading into a 2011 season. A 2010 Cowboy was part of the list, and a 2010 Raiders defensive back was picked to land in Big D.

Prisco believes Raiders safety Michael Huff could be a nice addition to Rob Ryan’s new defensive scheme.

“I keep hearing how the Cowboys will make a run at a top corner,” Prisco wrote Thursday . “I think safety is the more pressing need, especially if Mike Jenkins can have a bounce-back year at corner. Huff played well last season after a slow start to his career. He is from Texas, so it might be easier to lure him back home. If Jenkins, Terence Newman and Orlando Scandrick can hold up on the corner, Huff will give the Cowboys someone to help upgrade the coverage on the back end.”

The CBS scribe also mentioned Cowboys defensive end Stephen Bowen in his article. However, he did not have Bowen returning to the Cowboys. He had the 27-year-old joining NFC East rival Washington.

“He might not be a household name, but he played well for the Cowboys last season,” Prisco noted. “And 3-4 teams, which the Redskins are, need players like Bowen. They do the dirty work to free up others to make tackles. Bowen might not cost a ton, which would make him even more attractive if the Redskins were to spend big on (Nnamdi) Asomugha.”

The Cowboys could also be in the running for arguably the best corner on the planet. But Prisco says the “big splash, big money” signing of Asomugha fits perfectly with Daniel Snyder’s free agency plans.

I will take the exact opposite. Bowen here, Huff somewhere else.

I too would like to see Bowen back. I was really hoping Spears would be signed back on, but it's looking less and less like that's likely.

As far as Huff goes, I'm just hoping for a replacement for Ball asap. I wouldn't mind Huff.

I'd take Huff or Landry. And I wouldn't mind resigning Bowen either, but we need more help at that position.

If Bowen was going to play somewhere cheap, then it wouldn't make sense to go to Washignton.

Bowen might actually get paid more than he's worth.

If he's going to sign cheap, might as well stay in Dallas where there's no state taxes, and he'd get plenty of playing time due to our lack of depth.

You would think we could get some kind of loyalty discount.. but with players nowadays who knows.

If he signs in Washington, it won't be cheap. It'll be real quick with Danny Boy just blowing everyone else out of the water.

Yeah but is he a very good starter? Because that might be the price tag to get him back.

Spears is a free agent (I think) and I've never been overly impressed with him. We have a decision to make if that's the case.

Spears is a free agent. So is Hatcher. So the Cowboys pretty much have to bring at least one back. I'd prefer Bowen, but if some team is gonna pay him like he's a top notch starter, then I might just look elsewhere.
