Some of you took Jerry's words the other day that the team would prefer not to draft a G high and ran with it, saying the team is committed to another mediocre OL. Now they may or may not draft an interior OL high, but Bill Callahan seems to be spending an awful lot of time doing individual workouts for G's and C's. Would seem to me if the team had little to no interest in OL's, he wouldnt be doing this, especially with the frequency he's been doing it. And it isnt like he's only been working out guys that would be middle to late round picks either.

One thing thats kinda interesting is to my knowledge none of his indv workouts have been with guys projected at T.

Also, he reportedly didnt go to Stanford's proday, but we did have our scouts there. Not sure if they attended Cordy Glenn's proday or if he (Callahan) went back there for an indv workout.

Off the top of my head, he's conducted individual workouts for the following:

Kevin Zeitler and Peter Konz, Wisconsin
Amini Silatolu, Midwestern State
Brandon Brooks, Miami Ohio
Phillip Blake & Robert T Griffin, Baylor
Ronald Leary, Memphis

Griffin and Leary are considered late rd/UDFA prospects, but the others are all pretty much considered 2nd/3rd rd prospects and in the case of Konz, Zeitler and Silatolu, borderline first rd picks.

I think there's a few others as well.

I still think OG should be a priority. Just don't believe we'll be spending our 1st pick on one.

I still firmly believe if DeCastro is there, he'll be the pick.

Although each day that goes by I become more skeptical that he'll be available at 14. I think there's 3 or 4 teams ahead of us who could take him, and there might be a couple behind us that would strongly consider moving up to get him.

Doubt it.

Doesn't really shock me all that much. Odds are the team is looking for OGs who can contribute right away.

You only have so much time, at best a T would be a backup or depth player and I'm not sure you really assign time to that when you have 3 spots that need addressed.

I dont speak directly to Jerry, but some of my colleagues do.

I have run into Jerry before, down at the Senior Bowl and one time at the combine.

The blitz did a interview with bill callahan last night and he made it sound like livings is a starter for sure...as we all know basically and that "Mack" as he called him could play guard or center and he made the comment that you have to take 7 lineman to the game and they would like to have them be guys who can play center also.....

sounded like we are not done on the offensive line. he also talked about nagy, arkin and kowalski as being players who will improve and be in the mix.

He said they would open the competition up in camp and the best players will play. Mentioned that Mack is right in his prime and is a player who will get much better.
