Second-year outside linebacker Victor Butler played more than usual on Sunday, the Cowboys trying harder to keep DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer fresh.

And, when he was in, he made some plays. Not to mention a special teams tackle and a well-played screen pass to Brandon Jacobs, he was on Eli Manning's tail when the quarterback chased a bad snap in the fourth quarter that ended up being recovered by Anthony Spencer.

"He played a pretty decent number of snaps," Jason Garrett said Monday. "What that allows you to do is bring those back in and go 100 miles an hour. And obviously when Spencer and D-Ware are doing that, they're pretty darn good pass rushers. Vic did a nice job on a screen. They had a chance to get something going. They threw a screen to Brandon Jacobs on the left hand side; he did a good job of rushing and coming back and making the play.

"He's a playmaking-type guy and to get some quality snaps from him is important for us."

Butler has been getting snaps spelling Spencer and Ware all year, but maybe now he's earning himself some more opportunities.

He always comes in and makes plays.

I'm glad we finally have a head coach who isn't stupid.

Butlers play on the screen caught my eye immediately during the game. So often, you see four guys continue to rush at the QB when it seems pretty obvious the QB is just drawing them out of the play to set up the screen. Butler immediately identified it was a screen and turned around to cover the back.

I was impressed.

Butler is going to be special.

It's about time he has more playing time.

He needs more of Spencer's snaps...

Just as long as he's being rotated in the defense is good enough for now.

But the guy is talented and you want your players with talent on the field as much as possible.

For some reason Wade couldn't figure that out.
