Because of the lockout, rookies like DeMarco Murray are in danger of falling far behind their veteran teammates since they are unable to communicate with coaches and participate in full-squad practices.

However, Tony Romo said on Monday that players were already reaching out to new draftees, inviting them to participate in the players-only workouts taking place at a secret location in North Texas.

Among the players who have been contacted is third-round running back DeMarco Murray, who, in addition to first-round tackle Tyron Smith, is expected to have the most instant impact in the eight-man class. Murray told the local ESPN Radio affiliate in Dallas that he had spoken to one of the team's veteran defensive leaders, and would begin attending workouts as soon as he found a place to stay in the area.

"I've talked to Keith Brooking; we have the same agent together," Murray said. "He expressed it would be great if I could get down there and get around those guys."

Murray was not allowed to receive a playbook during his brief visit to Valley Ranch on draft weekend, but has had a chance to look at one thanks to a former college teammate from Oklahoma.

"I actually got a playbook from Manny Johnson, a former Sooner, a good friend of mine," Murray said. "So I was able to look at his playbook, look through it and kind of get a feel for it."
