Interceptions are up for New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees this season.

Brees enters Thursday's game against the Dallas Cowboys having throwing 14 interceptions, third-highest total in the league. He has averaged an interception every 29.8 throws.

A year ago, when the Saints won the Super Bowl, Brees had only 11 interceptions in 514 regular-season passes, one every 46.1 throws.

Saints coach Sean Payton said the interceptions must be put into the context of the Saints' season. They played from behind in several early season games, forcing Brees to throw more often. Injuries to running backs have affected the ground game. The Saints have four backs with more than 25 carries.

``I think two of the greatest allies for good quarterback play are good defensive play and a good running game,'' Payton said. ``When you're doing that, and I think we're playing well on defense and we've begun to find our running game, then I think you see the efficiency of that (quarterback) position go up.''

I think they'll eat us up with a lot of underneath stuff to Bush, so I don't expect us to get any interceptions.

I really hope we run it down thier throats and control the clock. But, with our line and our insistance on running Brickfoot McDreds, I don't see that being the case.

Still. 1 out of every 30 throws isn't going to kill you when you have an offense that can score like they do.
