The good news is that the New York Giants' first-team offense drove the ball down and scored on its first possession in Thursday's 20-17 preseason win over the New England Patriots. Bad news is that former starting running back Brandon Jacobs decided to blow off some steam following the game, according to ESPNNewYork.com. Jacobs, who's started for the Giants since Tiki Barber retired after the '06 season, isn't happy with his new backup role to Ahmad Bradshaw.

"No one's your friend in this business," said Jacobs. "This is a cutthroat, backstabbing business. That's just the way it goes. It's been like that before me. If you expect anything else out of a business like this, you're crazy."

Of course, this business has made Jacobs a very wealthy man, but on Thursday, he complained about the strings attached to that money.

"If I would have stayed making minimum, this wouldn't be a problem," Jacobs said. "Once you get paid, you're always in danger of running into problems like this. It doesn't matter who you are or what team or organization you play for, that's just the way it is."

It appears that Jacobs has made quite the psychological breakthrough: People expect a lot more from you when they write a check for $13 million. We'll see if Tom Coughlin responds to Jacobs' comments at all. He's preached "team first" throughout camp, so he might not like Jacobs' little rant.

Giants' Jacobs storms off from reporters

Giants running back Brandon Jacobs stormed off from an interview session with reporters after being questioned about his role according to the Associated Press.

Jacobs has been demoted to the No. 2 back behind Ahmad Bradshaw. He refused to answer questions about comments he made last week that he was unhappy with his role.

After answering some questions about the Giants’ new stadium and the upcoming season, he was asked about the team’s two-back system in 2008, when he and Derrick Ward shared carries and each ran for 1,000 yards.

Part of the question was did both backs forget their egos?

“You think I’m stupid, aren’t you? You guys are funny, man,” Jacobs said before he walked away, leaving the room with an expletive.

lol This game is about speed today. The days of the bruiser backs are pretty much gone.

Jacob's best bet is in the redzone, same can be said about Barber.

I mean if I had my choice as a HC which RB I can have, it would be the speedy back. Now if I could have a speedy back with a little more weight I would be happy with that as well.

I just think the game has changed more to the speedy backs, and the bruiser backs being used in the redzone or short yardage situations. JMO.

Jacob's is an asshole. A bona-fide asshole.

If there is a player in the league who genuinely deserved a career ending injury, it's him.
