Bradie James on Cowboys: “The entitlement kills us”
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 24, 2011, 9:28 AM EDT

Longtime Cowboys linebacker Bradie James thinks he knows why the team hasn’t experienced more success despite all the resources available to them.

“I think the entitlement kills us,” James told Jennifer Floyd-Engel of FoxSports.com. “Our alumni, our former greats have made us America’s Team and we reap benefits that we haven’t earned — all the way around, as individuals, as a team. Those guys earned it. We just think we deserve it.”

In the same piece, DeMarcus Ware says the Cowboys lack a “foundation” to go along with all of their talent.

We agree, but only if Ware means the team lacks a consistent vision from the team’s football operations department. (And we doubt he means that.)

The early 90′s Cowboys had entitlement too, and that didn’t slow them down. They also had a strong-minded coach able to exert his will on the team and more importantly on shaping the roster.

That’s what the Cowboys have mostly lacked the last 15 years, with the exception being the Bill Parcells era.

He's wrong.

It's bad luck and karma that's held us back.

Why haven't the Patriots won a post season game since 2007?

The 90's teams earned it. They won consistently and had a brash coach who demanded excellence and avoiding complacency.

How this current roster ever felt entitled accomplishing so little is beyond me.

Because they have an owner who makes them feel they're Hollywood stars and celebrities.

Hard knocks. Interrupting practice for grab handing celebrities and sponsors. Multi-city training camps. Etc etc.

The fact that bradie said that really pisses me off. I dont think that applies to everyone and I remember bradie talking about working hard and not being entitled in other seasons.....if I were in the locker room with him and I read this we would have an issue. He just applied that statement to the whole team. I would flip if a teammate said that about me.

And the other thing that pisses me off is that alot of us have backed these guys up and stayed with them beause we thought they were at least trying to do things the right way......what does his statement tell the fans...sorry bout the last 5 years but we are going to try now.....

If that is the case get his ass off the roster ASAP also. Joe avezzano said during the pre game show against jax last year that he had two coaches and some scouts tell him this was the most entitled team he has ever been around....I never thought they were talking about bradie....always assumed it was the bents, Williams, choices of the world.....now I am disappointed because it makes me not like the guy.

I think blaming entitlement is just easier than Bradie admitting he's not athletic enough to play his position and is now a weakness on our defense.

I don't know. It seems like he is making a huge excuse for losing though. I am totally surprised it's bradie saying this stuff and very disappointed in him. These are not the things the supposed leader of the defense says. If i were a young player like lee,Carter, lemon or whoever in that locker room and he started preaching to me I would tell him to go screw himself after reading that.

He's like a professional interviewer, man. He is just pandering, IMO. He says this sort of stuff every offseason (i.e. This is why we didn't succeed last year, here is why it's different) and ends up contradicting himself because he's been here so long.

Yea I have been here since day 1 with him. He has always carried himself professionally. I always thoughthewas one of the guys who liked doing things the right way,who liked the grind of it.....he was exuberant about what Garrett brought to the team in the post game the night we beat the giants last year.....without saying it he said wade was a big pussy who never had control of anything and was just trying to cling to his job....

But his statements to jfe tell me that is not the case.
