Both Teams Have To Forget Preseason

The Texans trounced the Cowboys' starters in what was meant to be the preseason "dress rehearsal" for both clubs, going into the locker room at halftime up 13-0 on the way to a 23-7 win.

The Cowboys weren't happy to lose individual battles in the game, but dismissed the loss as a symptom of not game-planning.

Texans safety Dominique Barber, the brother of Marion Barber, said Tuesday the team wasn't upset by the Cowboys' take on the game.

“We don’t take offense to that, no,” Houston’s Barber said. “We just come to work and play. That’s what we do, and Coach (Gary) Kubiak, week in and week out tells us we’re 1-0, go to the next game. Right now we’re 2-0. We’re not looking back at games we’ve already played. Now we’re looking at the Cowboys. We played very well against them, but with us it’s not about what other people say. It still comes down to what we do on the field, so as long as we’re still flying around making plays it’s going to be a great game on Sunday.”

Sunday won’t even mark a month since the preseason, played on Aug. 28. Dominique Barber said he wasn’t really sure what could be taken from the exhibition meeting between the clubs. Things change in such a short amount of time in this league.

“I’m not really sure how that’s going to work out. Obviously they’ve got a great receiver coming back in Dez Bryant, who wasn’t able to play in the game. So we’ve got some extra challenges ahead of us.
