That is why Jason Garrett needs success. I believe he has a plan and will seek players that match that plan. But, you can't do it in one off-season - especially one with a 5-month lockout.
Will Rob Ryan's defense produce more sacks for the defense overall but less individually for Ware?
I believe so. You will see 8-10 blitzes a game from DBs which excites me since Wade averaged about 2.
With the injury to Newman, Ellis Hobbs and or Lito Sheppard are about the best free agents at corner left. Should the Cowboys be interested in either?
I have always like Lito, but corners lose a step, and they are done. I imagine without a stack of current coaching tape, we are only discussing names based on our memories from 2007 or 2008. I think the Cowboys need to target corners who are not as famous, but plenty younger.
What position on defense you think that we really need help with?
Corner and strong safety all could use special players. DE has to get more dynamic, and Spencer needs to improve. There are 4 or 5.
Do you think Jerry and son mismanaged the salary cap? Was there anything they could have done last year (the uncapped year) to restructuring some of the larger contracts?
There is no reason Leonard Davis and Roy Williams should not have been cut last year. That was very poor work at predicting the future. They may not have had the cash flow, but they have now made 2012 very difficult on themselves.
Would you give up a second-rounder for Asante Samuels?
In a heartbeat. But, that would never happen. The Eagles would not do it, and the Cowboys would need quite a bit of cap room to fit him in.
Are the Cowboys finally building the right type of O-Line to run Garrett's offense?
Good question. The "11" personnel package is an offense where you must run out of the shotgun. It is more of a spread offense and makes the defense spread out, too, to match up. The Colts and Patriots do it because they want their QB to throw 40 passes. The Saints and Packers do, too. Not sure Garrett wants to go that extreme.
Wtih Dallas's salary cap situation in mind, what player would you have liked the Cowboys to have picked up in free agency this year?
There were several safeties that I think could have really helped around here. But, their sticker prices seemed to scare the Cowboys away. Atogwe seemed the perfect fit to me.
Jerry Jones gets 45 million today because of the new CBA ... and finally restructures DeMarcus Ware. Is that a coincidence or is Jones broke?
It's a coincidence. I believe Ware had to wait for the CBA to be ratified to restructure or else he would have had to sit out practices.
Doesn't John Phillips have a good chance to beat Marty B for the second TE spot?
I think they each have their spots. And then If Marty doesn't break out, they won't pay him in FA. At which time, Phillips will take over as the No. 2 next season.
What are your thoughts on Jimmy Robinson? Do you think he coached up the receivers in Green Bay or did he just have really good underrated receivers?
Always tough to say for sure. But, they were not happy about losing him to the Cowboys. He is well respected for sure.
