Bill Polian unsure of prognosis on Dallas Clark's "rare injury"Posted by Michael David Smith on October 21, 2010 1:06 PM ET
Colts President Bill Polian says he doesn't have any reason for optimism on the hand/wrist injury suffered by tight end Dallas Clark. But he doesn't have any reason for pessimism, either.
Polian says that Clark's injury isn't one the team's medical staff has encountered before, and so it's not clear how long Clark will be out.
"He's got an injury to his wrist, which is a relatively rare injury," Polian said, per the Indianapolis Star. "He's visiting a doctor in Cleveland today. He's due to come in and talk late this afternoon when he gets back and I get back. I don't know what the prognosis is. This is not the kind of injury that is very common where our doctors can say 'Hey, look, this is a four-week injury or this is a six-week injury.' So we'll know more later tonight."
While Clark is gone, Jacob Tamme will be listed as the No. 1 tight end on the Colts' depth chart. But considering that Tamme doesn't have a single catch this year, it's probably more likely that the Colts will just go with more four-receiver formations, and hope that Clark is ready to return soon.
